Events Leading to the Declaration of Independence

    Stamp Act
The stamp act stated that all legal documents and paper items were taxed, having to use an official stamp. It was important because it helped play the French-Indian war and the soldiers Britain was sending to the 13 colonies.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
A crowd started a riot against a British soldier who called for reinforcements. Multiple colonists died and left wounded after being shot by the British soldiers. This started the stress and tension between the 2 groups leaving them split and with different views.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
The Sons of Liberty organized the Boston Tea Party with many other colonists to rebel against the British officials. They dressed as Native Americans and dumped out 342 boxes of tea into the Boston Harbor to protest for taxed items (no taxation without representation). This is important because it added to the tension between the colonies and Britain. [https://dp.la/primary-source-sets/the-boston-tea-party]
