The British prime minister persuaded Parliament to pass the Stamp and Quartering Act.The Quartering Act made the colonists provide supplies for the British soldiers in the Colonies. The Stamp Act made the colonists pay for stamps on all legal documents other items that had to be stamped. -

Articles of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation gave the states a decent amount of power. Congress could make laws, but citizens didn't have to follow them. They couldn't controle citizen uprisings -
Annapolis Convention
The conventions main goal was to get the Articles of Confederation Amended, but only 5 delegates sowed up so they planned a bigger convention for the next year. -
Shay's Rebellion
In Massachusetts farmers were loosing their farms due to debt which led to the rebellion. Armed mobs began closing courts. -
Stronger National Government
People realized after Shay's rebellion that they needed a stronger central government. -
Constitutional Convention
12 delgates from each state except Rhode Island gathered in Philadelphia at Independance Hall. They decided to use the Connecticut Compromise which caled for a bicameral legislature. -
Signing the Constitution
It was signed by 33 of the delegtes. Many left because they thought the document wasn't good enough to rule the country. The document wouldn't come into effect until 9 out of the 13 states approved it.
