Christopher Columbus tried to find a new,faster trade route to Asia, but accidently found the Americas. His other goal was to get rich and to get a good title for his children. He accomplished all of his goals.

America is Named

Amerigo Vespucci was an Italian explorer and cartographer. His goal was to find a new world and find a star that would let sailers easily use longitude. he found the new world but did not find the star. The Americas was named after him. He had the most detailed costal maps of America.

Explorer of Southeastern America

Pedro Alvrez Cabral explored Southeastern America and claimed it for Portagul. He also discovered Brazil and counqured it. Then he named Brazil the "Island of the True Cross."

New map of the world

Martin Waldseemuller made the first map to use the word "America". It was also the first map to show North and South America apart from Asia.

Search for the Fountain of Youth

Jahn Ponce de Leon led an expedition to present day Flordia looking for the legendary fountain of youth. He conquered Flordia, but never found the legendary Fountian of Youth.

First European to see Eastern Pacific

Vasco Nunez de Balboa was a spanish conqurer and explorer. He was the first European to see the eastern coast of the paccific ocean on the Isthmus of Panama. His goal was to get gold and pearls to spain. He was sucessful with the gold, infact he actualy got more than 100,000 castellanos worth of gold. He did not get any pearls though.

Conqueror of the Aztecs

Hernado Cortez wanted power,conquest, and gold from the Americas. He went to Mexico and conqured the Aztecs.. Hernando Cortez got gold from the Aztecs.

The Victory of Crashing a Boat

Alvarez Nunez de Vaca crashed his boat while going to the Americas. While he was stranded in the Americas he explored looking for the city of gold. He never accomplished his journey to the city of gold. He went back to Europe with other explorers coming to America.

Conqueror of Flordia to Arkansa

Hernando de Soto wanted wealth and power so he led a large army from Flordia to Arkansas. he suceded in coquring the southeast. Hernando de Soto was the first Eurepean to see the Mississipi River.

Tremendous Voyage Across America

Fransico Vasquez de Coronado led an expedition into present day Arizona. His goal was to get wealth to Spain which he failed but had made a tremendous voyage of discovery across America.
