The Pueblo Revolt
The king of Spain sent Juan de Onate to settle New mexico. Onate found the first Spanish settlers. -
Jamestown colonists arrive in Virginia
About 100 settlers survived the crossing. They sailed 60 miles, the location became a problem because of the low swampy area. -
The headright system
The Virginia Company offered 50 acres of land that colonists contain in various ways. The family received one headright for each member of the family. -
House of Burgesses
Representatives from the various communities in Virginia met up for an assembly in the House of Burgesses. Only White men who owned land were allowed in. They could raise taxes, and make laws. -
