Henry IV Becomes King
Henry IV had been baptised as a catholic. then onverted into Protestantism. He then was encouraged by the love of his life to perminantly renounce Protestantism. He also gave his famous words "Paris vaut bien une messe" ("Paris is well worth a Mass"). -
Edict of Nantes
Created by Henry IV to protect protestants. It granted the Huguenots religious toleration and allowed them to fortify their own towns and cities. -
James I Becomes King
James I became the first monarch ruler of the Stuarts after the death of Queen Elizabeth. -
Defenestration at Prague
The defenestration of prague was when protestents threw two Catholic memembers of the Bohemian royal council out of a window. However, they did not die. In fact, they landed in a cart full of manure. -

Cardinal Richelieu strengthens Monarchy
He destroyed the nobles and huguenots to strengthen the central governemnt. He took in place to rule because Louis XIV was too young to rule. He was known as the king's "Chief Minister". -
Charles I becomes King
Charles I inherited the throne after King James I died. He behaved like an absolute monarch. -
Charles Signs Petition of Rights
The Petition wasn't an enactment of new law, but a declaration of established rights. Four examples of what it contained are:There should be no taxation without the consent of Parliament.There should be no imprisonment without cause shown;There should be no billeting of soldiers or sailors upon householders against their will;There should be no martial law to punish ordinary offences by sailors or soldiers. -

Charles I was put to trial and sentenced to death when found guilty of murder and many other things. He was the first to give the command of when to kill him. His head was cut off with one try. -

It is the most magnificent building that was designed and created by Louis XIV. The government had to live in Versailles and even the King himself. -

In 1658, Charles II came into power after Cromwell's death. Puritans lost their grip on England after his death because many people were tired of the strict rules and puritan ways. -
Peter I Becomes Tsar
Peter bacame Tsar at the age of ten. His half-brother had been next in the throne but couldn't because he was extremely ill. Peter was chosen to become Tsar along with his mother. -

King Louis XIV revoked the Edict of Nantes becuase he saw protestants as a threat to political and religious untiy. -

James II fled to France after being overthrown by a union of English Parliamentarians. That included William of Orange. The over throw came to be know as the Glorious Revolution. -

After winning over and capturing Swedish territory and land, Peter turned it into his living quarter and later named it St. Petersburg. -

Louis XIV died four days before his 77th birthday. Louis's heir was his five-year-old great-grandson, Louis, Duke of Anjou. -
Peter the Great Dies
Peter was 52 years, seven months old when he died and reigned for 42 years. His autopsy revealed that his bladder had been infected with gangrene.
