The Independence begane, when Hidalgo gave the Grito de Dolores, and led the Indians into the attack at 2 a.m. on the church of Dolores Hidalgo. -
The burning of the door
The Indians and Mestizos, lead by El Pipila, took over the Alhondiga de Granaditas on Guanajuato , by supossedly burning down the door with the help of El Pipila and killed everyone inside. -
Numbers over Strategy
The anticipated battle over Mexico City took place at the Monte de Las Cruzes. Hidalgo proved that sheer numbers could overcome a small well equipped professional army, by destroying their opponents. -
A Change of Events
Battle of Calderon Bridge.The Royalist Group caught up with the rebels. Hidalgo and Allende had numerical superiority, but General Calleja conducted his operations superbly. Also, luck was on their side, when a Spanish artillery shot a rebel ammunition wagon, resulting in an explosion and breaking rank of the troops. Hidalgo and Allende were taken captives. -
Death of a Leader
Hidalgo was killed by a firing squad and decapitated, so his head would be fastened to a poll for everyone to see. -
Constitution of Apatzingan
The creat the constitution that states that there is equal division of power between the Criollos and Peninsulares. There would be no slavery and no division by cast. -
Another Death Leader
The battle of Temala, between the rebels and the royalist forces, were the royalist forces won, and captured and killed Morelos. -
Treason
The Plan de Iguala was created between Iturbide and Guerrero. Iturbide betrayed Spain to join Guerrero in the Independence movement, and gain power. -
A New Reign
September 1821- Successful political and military coalition from Agustin Iturbide, and he took control over Mexico City.
