- was to prevent future turmoil that could occur

- So far no more world wars have occured

- civil war between Hutus and Tutsi, the two ethnic groups
- UN soliders deployed as peacekeers, not makers
- about one million people killed in roughly 100 days
- United Nations did not do anything to stop the force of Hutus from killing, critizied later for that
- Tutsi rebels eventually pushed out the Hutus Militia and any cilvilians fighting with them
