Personal Timeline

  • Birth

I was born prematurely on April Fools day
  • Started living on a farm

My family ran a farm in rural Colorado and raised horses. A few of our horses were show horses, and one several dozen championships in the western circuit.
  • I moved back to Arizona

Although I loved living on the ranch, unfortunately the education system in my small town was not very good and my parents were worried about our academic future. I am lucky that they put our needs first, and I know that I owe my educational progress not only to them, but also to moving back to the city.
  • My sister leaves for college

My sister is honestly my best friend, and I was really sad that she was leaving for college, but also so proud of her for being an amazing student and going after her dreams.
  • 9/11

This day is seared into my mind. I remember being pulled out of school and my mom was acting funny. We sat in our basement the whole day and watched the news and my mom cried. I remember when she finally explained what happened to me, and I was so sad for all of the families of the people in the towers.
  • Got my first job

I worked at an animal shelter as an educational outreach intern, and then was hired on to the staff team when I was 18. I learned so many skills at this job, not just about teaching and animal related topics, but about how to conduct interviews, speak in public, and even just how to work in a team.
  • Graduate high school

  • Went to College

I am currently in college to become an early childhood special education teacher, a passion of mine since I was in elementary school. I had a few amazing teachers for kindergarten and 1st grade that really influenced a lot of my learing and I consider them to be great heros of mine.
  • Joined Omega Phi Alpha

I rushed and became an active sister to the national community service sorority on campus. I have made the greatest friends and have helped work to make my community a better place!
  • Transferred Schools

I finally got the courage to take a leap of faith and have begun the process of moving back to Colorado. I'm not really happy living in Arizona, and I have always wanted to move back to the mountains and I am finally in a position to do so.
