    Anorexia Nervosa

    Inklings of cases in the Western part of the World from anytime between 12th and 13th century. Mostly women would starve themselves as a practice for their religion.

    Richard Morton was the physician that classified anorexia as the "wasting disease" and also classified the symptoms
  • Sir William Gull

    Sir William Gull was the one who termed the once known condition named, the "wasting disease" as Anorexia. This is where the transition from religion to science and psychiatry came in. It was only practiced by women in religion, but 1873 is when Gull said it is done by men and women

    Walter Hamburger was the first person to document a compulsivity in eating and it cannot be controlled.
