A 3 week siege of Yorktown, resulted in the surrender of British and German forces. Ending in American Victory. German soldiers were present in multiple regiments. -

Before this, the country ran on the Articles of Confederation prior to the constitution being ratified. After a bit it was realized the Articles weren't enough so they decided they needed a more central and stronger government. Thus ratifying the constitution. -
