    Colombus sailed ocean blue

    Christopher Colombus was sailing in the name of Spain looking for a new western route to Asia. The Spanish wanted a direct route to Asia where they could get spices for a much lower cost than to buy it from middlemen.

    First enslaved Africans arrive in Americas

    The colonies needed slaves to work on their farms and help out with labor. Bartolomue de las casas suggested that the colonies should use Africans instead of indians for their work. He said the way they treated the Natives was terrible and suggested many advantages of Africans including: the skin color of Africans made it hard for them to escape because they could be seen, they had many farming skills so they knew somewhat how to farm, they were exposed to lots of disease so they were immune.

    Cortez conquers Aztec Empire

    The Aztec leader, Montezuma invited them because he thought Cortez was a god in armor. He said he had a sickness in the hard only curable by gold. He gave Cortez gold but he was unsatisfied. Cortez teamed up with local tribes to defeat the Aztecs. One time during a sacrifice, the Spanish killed all the people killing the other people. They ended up defeating up the Aztecs.

    Pizarro conquers Incan empire

    Francisco Pizarro and his conquistadors march on into the Incan Empire. They kidnapped Atahualpa and he offered them 1 room of gold and 2 of silver. After taking the ransom, they killed him anyway. Then they defeated the Incan empire.
  • English founded Jamestown

    Jamestown was the first succesful English colony. After the failing Rowenoak, the Enslish were apprehensive of settling in another colony. They were afraid it was going to fail. At first, Jamestown was struggling because people were more interested in gold than farming. At the time 7/10 people died because of this. Later on though, the colony populized and it thrived because they started to farm.
  • English founded Plymouth

    The Pilgrmis wanted religious freedom from the Church. At the time, there was religious law through the church. It was regulated by the King. The Pilgrims were granted this freedom and settled their colony in the Massachusetts.
  • French and Indian War ends

    There was a war between the Ensligh and the French called the French and Indian war. The English wanted to expand their colonies western because of an increased population. The problem was The French occupied the area west of the English colonies. The English and French both had some Indian allies hence the inian part of the name of the war. The British won and French lost as usual and the British took a huge chunk of land from the French.
