    Born in 460 BCE and died in 370 BCE. He theorized that all material bodies were made up of indivisibly small atoms and came to this discovery around 400 BCE.

    John Dalton
    Born in 1766 and died in 1844. He came up with the Atomic Theory in 1803, which consisted of 2 things. Everything was made up of small particles called atoms. All atoms of the same element are the same and different elements have different atoms.

    Born in 1791 and died in 1867. He discovered that atoms had an electric component in 1833. He called it the laws of electrolysis.

    Born in 1850 and died in 1930. He discovered the proton in 1886. This updated the model of an atom by adding protons.

    Born in 1856 and died in 1940, Discovered the electron in 1897. This updated the model by adding electrons.

  • Niels Bohr

    Niels Bohr
    Born in 1885 and died in 1962. Niels Bohr discovered a model of an atom that completely changed how people perceived it. He depicted it as a “solar system, " showing how electrons could only occupy a certain orbit around a nucleus.

    Born in 1901 and died in 1976. He discovered that there was a strong force within an atom’s nucleus. It’s what holds the protons and neutrons together.

    Born in 1887-1961. He perceived that electrons were waves and had certain orbital places where they could be found.

    Born in 1871 and died in 1937. He discovered the neutron in 1932. The neutron was added to the model of an atom. He also created a new model of the atom that is widely known.
