Mendel's pea plant experiments conducted between 1856 and 1863 established many of the rules of heredity, now referred to as the laws of Mendelian inheritance. -

Friedrich discovered Nucleic Acid. -
Einstein discovers his theory of relativity.
In 1905, Albert Einstein determined that the laws of physics are the same for all non-accelerating observers, and that the speed of light in a vacuum was independent of the motion of all observers. This was the theory of special relativity. It introduced a new framework for all of physics and proposed new concepts of space and time. -
Start of WWI
The first world war begins. -

The birth of Rosalind Franklin.
Rosalind Franklin was one of the main influences as far as finding the double helix structure of DNA. Although she was given minimal credit for her work. -

The second world war begins. -

Found out that DNA is the material of which genes and chromosomes are made. -
Erwin Chargaff
Irwin discovered that the amount of Adenine is equal to the number of Thymine, and the number of Guanine is equal to the number of Cytosine. -
Hershey and Chase experiments conducted
The Hershey–Chase experiments were a series of experiments conducted in 1952 by Alfred Hershey and Martha Chase that helped to confirm that DNA is genetic material. While DNA had been known to biologists since 1869, many scientists still assumed at the time that proteins carried the information for inheritance because DNA appeared simpler than proteins. -
Watson and Crick snatch the structure of DNA
On this day in 1953, Cambridge University scientists James D. Watson and Frances H.C. Crick announce that they have determined the double-helix structure of DNA, the molecule containing human genes. -
