  • Proclamation of 1763

    The British government did not want American colonists crossing the Appalachian Mountains and creating tension with the French and Native Americans there. it prohibited Anglo-American colonists from settling on lands acquired from the French following the French and Indian War.

    assert the authority of the British government to tax its subjects in North America after it repealed the much-hated Stamp Act.it helped make clear of full power and authority to make laws .
  • Townshend Act

    initiated taxes on glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea.
    Pushed American colonists towards revolution and showed that the British didn't understand that "taxation without representation".
  • Boston Tea Party

    a direct response to British taxation policies in the North American colonies. it directly led up to the sparking of the American Revolution on April 19, 1775.

    a series of four laws passed by the British Parliament to punish the colony of Massachusetts Bay for the Boston Tea Party.it was meant to force the rebellious colonies back into place

  • Boston massacre

    a crowd confronted eight British soldiers in the streets of the city. As the mob insulted and threatened them, the soldiers fired their muskets, killing five colonists. it is important because it helped galvanize Boston and the colonies against the mother country
