    Ancient Greek Democracy

    Introduced by a leader by the name of Cleisthens. He changed the reform to an oligarchy ( Government by the few) to a democracy ( government of the people).

    Magna carta

    Magna Carta which means ' The Great Chater" is the most famous documents in the world.
    This clause gave man the right to justice and fair trail. The king would govern and deal with its people according to the customs of feudal law. The rule of law was the same for everyone, no matter what race or class you were.

    Renassiance

    Means " Rebirth"
    This a times of great social, intellectual, political and artistic change between the middle age and modern times. Humanist believed in individual human worth and dignity. This contributes to individual rights and freedom.

    Haudenosaunee Confederacy

    Called the Iroquas but refer them selfs as Houdenosaunee, which means " people of the long house". They were able to come to an understanding with 6 different tribes to live amongst each other. The Houdenosaunee influences the liberal thought by outlining the path to harmony and unity among the nations, divided powers between different levels of government, establish the equal participation of the people, including women, in the government.

    Reformation

    Influenced by humanism, over the next years, reforms in many countries broke away from established Roman Catholic Church and constructed new denominations according to various ideas, especially the idea the people were capable of making their decisions based on reason.

    Enlightenment

    A revolutionary in its ideals of using scientific reason in determining social, religious, and political values and customs. European philosphers helped promote the ideas about human nature that led to the development of classical liberalism.

    American Revolution

    The American colonist to declare independence from the British crown and establish a republican form of government. Governing authorities was invested in the hands of it citizens and not a ruling monarch.

    French Revolution

    French citizens razed and redesigned their country's political landscape, uprooting centuries, old institutions such as absolute monarchy and feudal system.

    Industrial Revolution

    The industrial revolution introduced change in agriculture, textile and mental manufacture, transportation, economic policies and the social structure. The government had little to say.
  • Changes to Class System

    The Social classes formed within a particular mode of production that tend to establish a particular form of state, animate political conflicts and bring about major change on structure of society.
