Birth
On August 25th, 1984, in a hospital in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico; my mother gave birth to me and gave me my name Rodolfo Nunez. This is the most significant and influential event of my life because it was the beginning of a thrilling roller coaster life! This picture represents the innocence and untroubled times when we are newborns. -
Parents Divorced
In 1989, my parents divorced and my dad moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. This was when I began to appreciate the role of a single mother because of all the things she went through to provide for us in a country where a man is typically the provider of the family and full of machismo. -
Nunez migration
Chasing the American dream, my legal U.S. permanent resident mom, decided to bring two of her undocumented children to El Paso, Texas for a better life. The actions of my mother on that day, introduced us to an entire new way of lifestyle and culture. -
Learning new language
Moving to a new country was a very stressful time for my mom and two sisters. Learning the English language was challenging and added additional stress to our new lifestyle. -
Low Income Family
Racing three kids, my mother tried her best to provide the essential things to get through life. This experience has made me the man I am today because I do not take things for granted and motivated me to be a successful adult. -
Football
Joining the school football team from 8th grade through my Senior year, helped me become more social with my peers and reinforced the importance of TEAMWORK! -
El Paso County Sheriff's Office
After a disappointing postsecondary start and finally earning my Naturalized U.S. Citizenship, I was able to join the El Paso County Sheriff's Office as a detention officer and later a Deputy Sheriff. This is where I really got to see first hand the worst and the best of people. -
Becoming a father
2016 was a very special year in my life. I became a father for the first time and I have enjoyed it every single day since then. I have pledge to make both my daughters feel the love I did not receive as a child. My mom was never affectionate towards us and this is why I want to make sure my daughters do not feel that way when they grow up. -
Career Change
In 2016, I also earned my bachelors degree in business administration with a concentration in human resources and made a career change into education. I was a Law Enforcement teacher for five full years at Horizon High School. I was able to create great memories with my students and they always made me feel like I truly made a difference in their life. -
Graduate School
After the start of my six year of teaching I decided to enroll at ASU for my graduate studies in school counseling. After accepting a new job at the Education Service Center Region 19, I decided to change majors and pick up my studies in the Fall of 2022. This new position at the ESC put me in a position where I can assist a local school district with a low income student population get college and career ready.
