The Sugar act of 1764 was the tax of all sugar and molasses. Sugar was taxed because the British were in debt from the French and Indian war. Sugar was used in everything too. -
Stamp Act 1765
The new tax, the stamp act, was the tax on all printed paper. All colonists needed printed paper because of birth certificates. Letters and other playing cards were taxed too. These items were used everyday. -
Quartering Act 1767
The Quartering Act of 1767 allowed any British soldier into your house. You had to take care of them and feed them. If you didn't have enough beds for you, your family and the soldiers the you would sleep outside. -
Townshend Act 1767
The townshend act of 1767 taxed glass, lead, paper, paints, tea and more. These items were used everyday. That is why the British taxed them. -
Boston Massacre 1770
The Boston Massacre of 1770. The Boston Massacre happened when colonist were rioting. British soldiers shot and killed several of the colonists and hurt many other. -
Boston Tea Party 1773
The Boston Tea party of 1773. The Boston Tea party was when the sons and daughters of liberty threw 90,000 pounds of tea into the Boston harbor as a riot against the tax.
