Connect goals to the ultimate happiness
Happiness is defined by three things says Dr. Seligman. "High emotions, involves actions, and has meaning" (Page 12). -
It must be on your terms
"The most important thing to remember is that these are your goals, not your parent's, your teacher's, or anyone else's" (Page 11). Do not let outside forces persuade your goals! -
Frame your life
"Think through a simple list of life priorities..." (Page 12). These priories include family, faith, friends, wealth, social status, profession, and education. Make a goal that benefits all of these areas! -
Dream big, but start small
"Remember that success is never one huge leap" (Page 13). Say you want to gain weight. You are not going to do it in under a week! It takes time and effort towards your goal. Make it measureable and go after it! -
Take stock along the way
"... We need to be careful with ourselves because goals can also be a source of anxiety" (Page 13). Always keep your past successes in mind so the anxiety does not take over and get in the way of your goal!
