    Magna Carta

    Magna Carta
    The nobles rebelled against and forced King John to sign an agreement, called the Magna Carta,The document protected the nobles' privileges. These rights also included equal treatment under the law and trial by one's peers. The Magna Carta limited the power of the monarch by guaranteeing that no one would be above the law.
  • Mayflower Compact

    Mayflower Compact
    The Mayflower Compact was an agreement made while the pilgrams were still on the Mayflower. The pilgrams realized that they needed rules to govern themselves.
  • Fundamental Orders of Connecticut

    Fundamental Orders of Connecticut
    The pilgrams left Massachussetts and colonized Connecticut. And then developed America's first written constitution. It called for the assembly of elected representatives and the popular election of a governer and judge.
  • Glorious Revolution

    Glorious Revolution
    Removed King James from the throne and invited his daughter and it was a PEACEFUL transfer of power. And it declared that no ruler have more power than the Parliment
  • English Bill of RIghts

    English Bill of RIghts
    This document restricted the Monarch's power even more and it guaranteed free elections to Parliment. It declared that people have a right to fair trial, and it got rid of cruel and unusual punishment

    John Locke believed that from the very moment we were born, that we were born free,equal, and independent. These were John's idea and we call them Natural Righs.

    Developed the idea that the government should be divided into branches so that no one had more power over the other. Our government is divided into three branches: Judicial, Legislative, and Executive
