Second Continental Congress
Met in philidelphia, By the time the Second Continental Congress met the American Revolutionary War had already started. They talked about managing the war effort and moving further towards independence by writing the Declaration of Independence. -
Delceration of Independence
Adopted the Decleration stating that they were their own independent country. "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" -
Articles of Confederation
The articles were aproved but not ratified. they established a firm league of friendship amoung the states. each state kept its sovereignty, freedom, independence, and every power, Jurisdiction and right. -
Ratification of the articles
All 13 states had ratified the articles and the second continental congress declared the articles effective. -
virginia plan
First plan for the new constitution giving most of the power to the centeral government. they also wanted reprentation based on poepulation and money. -
New Jersey Plan
The new jersey plan another option for the constitiution gave most of the power to the people and wanted the representation to be equal. -
The Final Doctument
The Convention approved the constitution and put 39 names on it.
