It involved Lieutenant Dick Dowling, who led the Confederacy, and Jefferson Davis who spread the word of how epic the battle was. • Battle of Palmito Ranch

    Battle of Palmito Ranch
This battle took place in, you guessed it, Palmito Ranch. The reason this was a significant battle for Texas and the Confederacy is because this was the last land battle in Texas and the last Confederate victory in the Civil War. The men who led were Col. John S, who commanded the Confederacy, and Col.Theodore H. Barrett, who commanded the Union. The battle was won when Col. Barret commanded a retreat when Col. S hammered his troops with artillery. Despite all their disadvantages, they won.
