  • The First Computer

    The first freely programmable computer came into play.

  • IBM

    International Business Machines came out with their first computer machine.

  • The computer chip

    Jack Kilby and Robert Noyce invented the integrated circuit'better known as the computer chip.

  • Video games

    Spacewar games invented the first computer video games.

  • The mouse is invented

    Douglas Engelbart invented the computer mouse. He called it the mouse because the cord came out the back like a tail.

  • The first personal computers

    IBM and Apple were just a couple of the brands that put out the first personal computers.

  • The internet as we know it

    Tim Berners Less came up with the World Wide Web. He started a computer revolution.

  • Mini computers

    Nokia introduced a phone that had internet capabilities. This started a revolution of devices that were small'portable computers.

  • The Sims is released

    While most games see a player working towards an end-game scenario, The Sims allows players to create a home, get a job, and form relationships in a free-form world.

  • Arduino

    The Arduino used a Java-based integrated development environment and users could access a library of programs, called “Wiring,” that allowed for simplified programming. Arduino soon became the main computer platform of the worldwide “Maker” movement.

  • Amazon Web Services Launches Cloud-Based Services

    Amazon Web Services is launched. It introduced a number of web services, including Amazon Elastic Cloud 2 (EC2) and Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3).

  • Minecraft is introduced

    Initially developed by Swedish game designer Markus “Notch” Persson, Minecraft allows players to build towers and play challenges. The game, which could be played in either survival or creative mode, has received many awards from the international gaming press.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud is Announced

    Adobe Creative Cloud is announced as a subscription and cloud-based model of distribution for its major software products. Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and others, could be subscribed to either as a complete package or individually to suit user needs.

  • Facebook Acquires Instagram

    Instagram, an image-sharing and social networking application, is purchased by Facebook for nearly $1 billion. It was initially launched in October 2010 by founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger and became an instant hit, with over 100 million active users by early 2013.

  • Apple Store’s display of newly introduced Apple Watches

    Building a computer into the watch form factor has been attempted many times but the release of the Apple Watch leads to a new level of excitement. Incorporating a version of Apple's iOS operating system, as well as sensors for environmental and health monitoring, the Apple Watch was designed to be incorporated into the Apple environment with compatibility with iPhones and Mac Books.
