Colonial Timeline

  • French and Indian War Starts

    The real first World War has started. The French and Indian War was the result of disputes between France and GreatBritain that had been going on for almost sixty-five years.
  • French and Indian War Ends

    France and the Indians lose to Great Britain
  • Proclamation of 1763 issued by King George III

    King George III issued this because, he didn't want the colonists to have conflicts with Native Americans
  • Sugar Act

    Law set taxes on cloth, sugar, coffee, and wine entering the colonies.
  • Stamp Act

    Law imposed a tax on every legal document, newspaper, pamphlet, and deck of cards coming into the colony.
  • Declaratory Act

    Law stated that Parliament had the right to pass laws for the colonies “in all cases whatsoever".
  • Townshend Act

    Placed import taxes on tea, paper, glass, and coloring for paints.
  • Tea Act

    Law gave the East India Company the sole right to sell tea in the colonies.
  • Boston Tea Party

    A group of men tossed all the tea that the East India Company had in Boston.
  • Intolerable Acts

    1. Boston Harbor was CLOSED
    2. Massachusetts colonists were not allowed to have any town meetings without the permission of the Governor.
    3. Any British officials accused of capital crimes would go to Britain to be tried because they felt that colonial courts were unfair. 4.Quartering Act

    A list of grievences for why the 13 Coloines should become their own country.
