    The Cold War is a state of tension between two countries without actual fighting. Cold war took place in 1945-1989 and was between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. This event was important because, the u.S and Soviet Union were against each other but were not fighting, but this caused tensions in other countries. this impacted society because the cold war lasted 44 years and involved many people.
  • NATO/Warsaw Pact

    NATO/Warsaw Pact
    In April 1949 the Allies came up with NATO which stood for, North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and the organization was for members (countries) who agreed to help one another of they were attacked which was basically a Political and Military alliance. When the Soviet Union found out about this, they made their own military alliance in May 1955, that was made to go against NATO called the Warsaw Pact, they didn't succeed and it ended in 1991. Overall, NATO is still around today.

    Brown v.s Board of Education
    In 1954, Oliver Brown wanted his daughter to go to an all-white school, which happened to be closer to home. Oliver asked the schools board, they ignored, so the NAACP helped him file is the first lawsuit. The court found that the segregated schools violated the 14th amendment, which overturned the Plessy v.s Fergurson Case. This impacted the society majorly because Brown won and the Supreme Court desegregated all schools, which the military helped with.

    Elvis Presley was born on Jan. 8, 1935 and he was the king of Rock N´ Roll. Elvis started singing publicly at 8 years old when he had his first talent show. He then went to a television show called Ed Sullivan, which is how he became famous. Elvis had 94 gold singles, 40 gold albums and starred in 33 films. He had a huge impact on society because he was one of the biggest influence on pop culture and Rock N' Roll, and helped people by donating money to charities and paying for hospital bills.

    Joe McCarthy was a Senator from Wisconsin. State Department employees who were communist who could never prove his claim. McCarthy was eventually fired and then this made others afraid. Meanwhile there were still communist in the army. McCarthy was eventually censured and lost all of his power. This whole scenario impacted the society because it speed fear and suspicion of communism.

    John F. Kennedy Assassination
    John F. Kennedy was the 35th president of the United States, at 43 years old. On Friday, November 22, 1963, John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. JFK was in an open car for cheering people when he was hit with a gunshot in the head by Lee Harvey Oswald, making him slump over in his seat. Then rushed to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where he then died at 2:00 p.m . On that day at 1:45 p.m 3 television stations broadcast without interruption for more than 70 hours.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Assassination

    Martin Luther King Jr. Assassination
    On April 4, 1968 Martin Luther King Jr., a Civil Rights activist, was assassinated in Memphis Tennessee, @ Lorraine Motel. He was killed by James Earl Ray by a bullet to the jaw, severing his spinal cord. Martin was hit @ 6 p.m and pronounced dead @ 7:05 p.m. Ray got away for a while, the search was one of the most $ and biggest investigation. Ray was then put in prison, where he died. Ray did this to silence the leader of the ANV CR, resulting with an impact of the CRM basically ending.

    RN was a RP VP of Dwight, & ran for Pres in 1968. Nixon came up w/ SM, would refer to people & used funds to help local dpt & people who were disturbed by the unrest of the 1960s, a part of stagnation w/ rising $ & high unemployment, which increased gov $ & caused deficits, got troops home from VT, opened relations w/ China, & DẼtente w/ SU. Watergate, Jun 17, 1972 in DC. 5 men broke into DP Hq & caught b/c door was slightly opened. Tape recordings found in his office, deep throat exposed him.

    George H.W. Bush was the 41st president of the United States. He was a Republican and was a former Vice president of Ronald Reagan, and George was from Texas. One of his big impacts were the Persian Gulf War. Other events he was a part of were, the Exxon Valdez oil spill, he passed the Americans with Disabilities Act, was president when the Berlin Wall fell, and was part of the Operation Desert Storm.

    In 1994 the first social network was invented which was called, Geocities. This became popular which sparked more ideas and got things going such as Aol instant messenger started in 1997 where people could talk through computers. Things like "friendster, Myspace, Facebook, Instagram,LinkedIn, YouTube, Pintrest" all began when things started to become more popular. These made it so people could listen to music, talk with friends around the world, and send pictures, videos and watch them.

    Bill Clinton was the 42nd U.S. President. Bill was Democratic and was the Governor of Arkansas. In his time in office, he had an impact of, lowering deficit for the U.S. Bill also had health care reform, sent 20,000 troops to Bosnia, signed test Ban Treaty for nukes, and he was also the 2nd president put on trail, but he managed to stay in office.

    On Tuesday, January 20, 2009 in Washington D.C. Barrack Obama was the first African American to become president of the U.S. One thing important about this was that millions watched on television and internet, which made it one of the most observed global events in history. At this inauguration Chief Justice, John Roberts gave an oath of office, and Michelle Obama held the Bible which was used by Abe Lincoln at his 1861 inauguration. This event that was held, costed $1,750- $20,000 per ticket.
