    Jackie Robinson
    Jackie Robinson was Born In Georgia in 1919. His dad left him when he was a year old and then he moved to California. Jackie went to UCLA to sign for 4 sports to then be drafted by the military.Jackie then was signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers to become the first African american to be in the MLB. Many people objected this and sent death threats. Besides that, he would have a .311 batting average and be in the Hall of Fame in '62. The US was shocked as an AA played the MLB. He retired at 42.
  • Baby Boom

    Baby Boom
    The baby boom was the dramatic increase of birthrate in the US. The population of baby's was 9 million in the 1930s. In the 1950s, the effect of the baby boom increased the population by 29 million. The birthrate during WWII was low including the great depression that made having a family too expensive or difficult. This effected the society as healthcare during the 1940-1950s was improved for children and pregnant women.ba
  • Korean War

    Korean War
    The Korean War was a war between South Korea and the US vs North Korea and a little bit of China. Korea split from North to south because North Korea was communist and South Korea was democratic. North Korea invaded South Korea on June 25th, 1950. Our veterans as with South Korea were fighting over the 38th parallel. The US would sign a cease fire as China helped North Korea. The Korean War impacted the US as the Veterans and society were sad as the war didn't impact anything what the US wanted.
  • Vietnam War

    Vietnam War
    Near the South China Sea, North and South Vietnam decided to go to war as North as Communist and South as democratic. Vietcong sided with North Korea and the US sided with South Vietnam and sent 500,000 troops in 1968. Peace talks eventually stopped the war for the US and they sent 58000 men and killed their economy as Vietnam then became communist. Cambodia was a disaster as we started bombing their and a civil war broke out. The US was confused based off the lost of men, and communism.
  • The Berlin Wall

    The Berlin Wall
    Berlin was the capital of Germany as Berlin had 4 different zones of country rule. Germany didn't like that especially because 3 million east Berliners went to west Berlin. East German soldiers built a wall of concrete and barbed wire overnight to separate east and west Berlin. This impacted the Berliners as if people tried to climb over the wall they would be shot. This was a symbol of the cold war until it was destroyed on November 9th, 1989.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Cuban Missile Crisis
    In October of 1962, the Soviet Union gave nuclear missiles to Cuba because they were communist so they can go against the US. JFK decided to send american warships to send back the Soviet ships. The ships were a couple miles away when all of a sudden the leader of the ships and the Soviet Union, Nikita Khrushchev, sent back the ships at the last minute and Cuba didn't get missiles, US got rid of missiles in Turkey. This hurt the society because this was close to war scale nuclear war.
  • Man on the Moon/ Apollo 11

    Man on the Moon/ Apollo 11
    On July 20th, 1969, Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong and Micheal Collins piloted Apollo 11 to the moons surface. 600 Million viewers watched as Armstrong became the first person to walk on the moon. " One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Armstrong described the surface like powdered charcoal. Buzz Aldrin joined him and he and Neil planted a flag on the moon and brought samples back to the earth safely. This was big for the US because they were the first to get to the moon and back.
  • Kent State Massacre

    Kent State Massacre
    Colleges across the US were protesting about President Nixon attacking Cambodia. There was a protest in Kent State and the police were soon called to start clubbing and bayoneting the students. This was a peaceful protest and then soon the National guard was called. National guard got very impatient and 28 guardsmen shot 61 bullets and 4 students were killed. 25 students and professors were found guilty and the National guard wasn't. The political view for the US was very different after this.

    Ronald Reagan
    Ronald Reagan was the president of the US from 1981-1989. He was a Republican and a Governor from California. His biggest impact of his presidency was Reaganomics which people loved because it cut taxes. Reagan also helped reduce nuclear weapons to reduce nuclear war. Reagan also was the first President too put a woman on supreme court. There was also an assassination attempt on him that shot him but didn't kill him. Ronald Reagan was big for the government because he made big changes.

    George W. Bush
    George W. Bush was the President of the US from 2000-2008. He was a Republican and Governor from Texas. His big impacts was the War on Terror especially from the 9/11 attacks. He was also president when the US executed Saddam Hussein. He also followed his brother for the tax relief plan. George W. Bush also used 900 vacation days during his presidency. George W. Bush was a big help for the society specifically especially for the War on Terror and taxes and also the No child left behind program.
  • Attacks on September 11th, 2001

    Attacks on September 11th, 2001
    On September 11th, 2001, at 7:46 AM CST. American Airlines flight 11 was hijacked and crashed into the North World Trade tower. 20 minutes later, United Airlines flight 175, was also hijacked and crashed into the South tower. The towers were both down 102 minutes later. At 8:40 AM, American Airlines flight 77 crashed into the pentagon. Another flight also crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Al Qaeda was responsible for the attacks. The US society was terrified as this started a war on terror.
  • Iraq/Afghanistan Wars

    Iraq/Afghanistan Wars
    The Iraq war took place in October of 2001. Afghanistan was in March of 2003. The Iraq war happened because there were rumors that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction even though the UN had no evidence that they did. Afghanistan was because of the results of the 9/11 attacks. We also helped Iraq pick their government. By 2001, Iraq war was done and they had no weapons. The Afghanistan war ended in 2014. Their were nearly 7000 casualties. This helped the society based off terrorists attacks.
