The North viewed this as a horrible, it revealed how the live of a slave was, but that wasn't how all the slaveholders were, The South veiwed this as lies, that most slaveholders were not like this. It outraged the South.

John Browns Raid

The North saw this as him helping slaves get freed and start a rebellion which some liked. This scared the South a lot they gave the slaves guns which really scared them.

Abraham Lincoln gets elected.

The North veiwed this as great because they voted for him and wanted him to win the election. The South viewed this as horrible because none of them voted for him they didn't want him as president.

South Starts to Secede

The South viewed this as their way of life to continue the way they live. The North viewed the South leaving as ridiculious and against the law.

Fort Sumter

The battle at Fort Sumter stunned the North, Lincoln declared the South to be in the state of rebellion, and they declared war. The South viewed the battle at Fort Sumpter as a victory because they got to seize the fortress which controlled the entrance to Charleston harbor.

First Battle of Bull Run

This was the first major vattle of the Civil War.
The North veiwed the First Battle of Bull Run as it shattering the hopes of winning.
The South veiwed the First Battle of Bull Run as a victory and that they would win the war.

Battle of Antietam

Sep 17, 1862

This was the bloodiest single-day battle of the Civil War. The North viewed this as a major victory because it stopped Lee and his troops from advanceing. The South viewed this as a defeat because it toke out most of Lee's troops and stopped their advances

Siege of Vicksburg

May 19, 1863

The North viewed this as a victory because they got to have the fort, but they also didn't want to have to shell the civilians repeatedly. The South veiwed this as a deafeat and horrible because the North were killing civilians in a horrific way.

Battle of Gettysburg

The North viewed this as truning the tides of the war so that they might win the war.Altough they lost 90,000 men. The South viewed this as a defeat that Lee's troops were never going to attack the North again.

Ten Percent Plan

The South viewed the 10 percent plan as they were defeated and there was nothing they could do anymore and they hated this plan. The North viewed this as a way to help and repair the South while making slavery illeagal.

13th Amendment

The North viewed this as them winning the war because it fianlly made slavery illeagal throughout the United States. The South viewed this as the North destorying there way of life and they hated this.

Appomattox Courthouse

The North viewed this as them fianlly winnning the war because the South surrendered. Also, sla very would be illeagal in the United States. The South viewed this as they lost the war so then slavery would be illagal and they couldn't live the way they used to live.
