The Election of 1860 was a presidential election between Abraham Lincoln and John Beckinridge. In this election they had a debate about the expansion of slavery which lead to Lincoln being voted for a lot in the North and not at all in the South. -

Before the election of 1860 was over the south threatened to secede if Lincoln won because they were afraid he would abolish slavery. The North thought they were bluffing until South Carolina seceded. -
