  • Election of 1860

    The Election of 1860 was a presidential election between Abraham Lincoln and John Beckinridge. In this election they had a debate about the expansion of slavery which lead to Lincoln being voted for a lot in the North and not at all in the South.
  • South Carolina Secedes

    Before the election of 1860 was over the south threatened to secede if Lincoln won because they were afraid he would abolish slavery. The North thought they were bluffing until South Carolina seceded.
  • Attack on Fort Sumter

    Attack on Fort Sumter was the first non-official battle of the Civil War. It start because the South was upset Lincoln won and they thought the North had too much power so they attacked Fort Sumter.
  • Battle of Bull Run

    The Battle of Bull Run was the first official battle of the Civil war. It all started because the Union felt the war coming on and wanted to end it quickly so they tried to capture the South's capital. They failed and then started taking this war seriously.
  • Battle of Antietam

    The Battle of Antietam was the bloodiest day in all of American History and it was the first major win for the Union.
  • Battle of Fredricksburg

    The battle of Fredericksburg was a major lose to the Union. Even the Union had more soldiers than the confederate's did.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    The emancipation proclamation was Lincoln freeing all the slaves that work for the confederate and making them fight in the war of the Unions side.
  • Battle of Vicksburg

    The Battle of Vicksburg was a major win for the Union. It led the Union to gain control of the Mississippi River.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    Gettysburg was known as the turning point for the Civil War because it was the last time General Lee invaded the North. but it had many casualties and led Lincoln to writing his famous speech the Gettysburg Address.
  • 54th Massachusetts battle of Fort Wagner

    54th Massachusetts of Fort Wagner was the Second Battle of Fort Wagner people called it the Second Assault on Morris Island or the Battle of Fort Wagner.
  • Gettysburg Address

    Gettysburg Address is the famous speech written by Abraham Lincoln about the deaths of Gettysburg and explained his vision for his country
  • Sherman's March to the Sea

    Sherman's March to the Sea was a total war against the Union. William Tecumseh Sherman lead troupes through the confederate states destroying everything in sight.
  • 13th Amendment Passed

    The 13th Amendment was an amendment made by Abraham Lincoln stating that all slaves were freed and slavery from here on was illegal. However, Lincoln was assassinated shortly after the amendment was passed.
  • Surrender at Appomattox Courthouse

    In the event of the Surrender at Appomattox Courthouse. General Lee surrender to General Grant in a small town in Virginia finally ending the Civil War.
