  • Compromise of 1850

    Free States and slave states.

  • Fugitive Slave Act

    If a slave was caught trying to run away, it must be returned to it's owner.
    It was an important part of the compromise of 1850.

  • Battle of Antietam

    Also known as the Battle of Sharpsburg, it was fought as a part in the Maryland Campaign.

  • Battle of Gettysburg

    The bloodiest battle during the civil war. Considered the most important part of the civil war.

  • Black Codes

    After the Civil War, southern laws made it so that blacks didn't have equal rights as whites.

  • Klu Klux Klan

    The KKK is a white supremacist organization that terrorizes African Americans, which started after the Civil War.
