The Fugitive Slave Act was passed in 1850 by the Congress. The act permitted the capture of African-Americans who had fled to the north, These laws increased tension, and set the stage for John Brown's Raid and the American Civil War. -

5000 people from nearby proslavery Missouri came and voted for proslavery representatives in Kansas illegally.

Dread Scott Decision
Dread Scott was a slave who lived in illinois. He also lived in Wisconsin and then he moved back to missouri. All blacks slaves as well as free were not ever to become US citizens. The court declared the Missouri Compromise uncontitutional. Slavery was allowed in any parts of the Country. -
Attack on Harpers Ferry
John Brown wanted to inspire slaves to fight for their freedom, he wanted to capture weapons at an army base in Harpers Ferry, Virginia to arm the slaves.
