  • Abolition

    The movement to abolish slavery. became the most important of a series of reform movements in America.
  • The Liberator

    William Lloyd Garrison it was used to deliver uncompromising demand: immediate emancipation.
  • Nat Turner's Rebellion

    Nat Turner led a rebellion of slaves she attacked with more than 50 followers and they destroyed 4 plantations and killed about 60 whites.
  • The North Star

    Douglass wrote the North Star it was about a star that guided runaway slaves to freedom.
  • Harriet Tubman

    Harriet Tubman was one of the most famous conductors. Once her owners died she was supposed to be sold again but she managed to escape to Philadelphia. Instead of living in peace as a free slave she decided to become a conductor for the the Underground Railroad. She made 19 trips from the South and it is said that she helped her own parents escape including 300 other slaves.
  • Compromise of 1850

    The Compromise of 1850 is 5 separate bills that solved the problem between slave states and free states.
  • Fugitive Slave Act

    Fugitive Slaves were not entitled to a trial by jury. Anyone who helped a fugitive was liable for a fine of 1 thousand dollars or imprisonment for up to 6 months.
  • Underground Railroad

    The person who started the underground railroad was named Harriet Tubman. The purpose of the underground railroad was to help slaves escape it provided them with food and clothing and they was directed or escorted to the next station.
  • Uncle Tomś Cabin

    The author of Uncle Tom´s Cabin is named Harriet Beecher Stowe. It is about boats being filled with people about to get sold in the slave market.
  • Kansas-Nebraska Act

    The person who proposed the Kansas Nebraska act was Stephen A. Douglas. This act proposed that the borders should be able to choose themselves if slavery was allowed or not.
  • Dred Scott v. Sandford

    Dred Scott was a man who sued for his freedom. He was taken from a slave state to a free state, which made him a free man. They ruled against him because he lacked any legal standing to sue in a federal state because he was a not and could never become a legal citazen
  • Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas Debates

    They were debating about slavery. It was a series of 7 debates. Trying to win control of illinois general assembly. The general assembly is created by the first state constitution
  • Attack on Fort Sumter

    The attack on Fort Sumter. They attacked Fort Sumter South Carolina. They lost were forced to surrender to the United States army it started the American Civil War.
  • Formation of the Confederacy

    It was established in 1861. The southern states joined and Abraham Lincoln was the president at the time
