Lincoln was elected president on April 5, 1860. And was reelected on November 8, 1864. -
Fort Sumter
On April 10, 1861 General Beauregard ordered the surrender of Union Fort Sumter. The commander of the fort, Anderson refused to surrender. On April 12, 1861 Confederate batteries bombarded the fort. On April 13, 1861 Anderson surrendered. Although there were not casualties, many people say that this was the first battle of the Civil War. On April 14, one man did die from a explosion and three men were wounded. -
The End of The Civil War
The two commanders on the confederate met at Appomattox Courthouse and agreed to the terms of surrender. -
Lincoln Assassination Part 3
One of the doctors said that Lincoln should die in peace. So they brought him slowly through the crowd to the Peterson Broading-House, which was across the streat. They put Lincoln in a bed and found blankets. And what ever else they could find to comfort the diying president. -
Lincoln Assassination Part 1
Lincoln was the first president to be assassinated in office. From then one presidents' security was dramatically improved. Lincoln was shot while watching a opera comedy called "Our American Cousin". Lincoln was with his wife, Mary, Major Rathbone, and Rathbone's fiancee. The assassin who's name was John Wilkes Booth, shot Lincoln in the back of the head. Then dropped the gun a pulled out a knife, which he stabbed Rathbone in the left arm with. Then he leaped down on to the floor. -
The Souths Plan to Crumble the US Goverment
The plan of the assassins that killed Lincoln, also tried to kill the Vice President. Secretary of State. But failed. Lewis Paine who tried to kill William Henry Seward, the Secretary of State. At the time William was in bed recovering from a carriage accident. Paine slashed the Secretary's throat twice, then escaped. A metal surgical collar saved Seward from death. He then lived on to purchased Alaska from Russia in 1867. George Azerodt tried to kill Vice President Andrew Johnson, but failed. -
Lincoln Assassination Part 2
Booth's spur got cought on the flag while he was falling. When Booth hit the ground he broke his leg. But he got up and shouted the Virginia state motto, "Sic Semper Tyrannis." Then ran out the doors and escapes on horseback. A surgeon by the name of Charles A. Lelle rushes to the presidents box and performs CPR on Mr. Lincoln. Then three more doctors rush up to the president's box, and they all agree that president Lincoln wound is fatal. -
Booth Death
Booth was hiding in a barn when he died. Union soilders set the barn on fire. A Union soilder shoot Booth through a creak in the wall of the barn.
