    During this year on december 1st the well known african american woman by the name of Rosa Parks refuses to give up her seat to a white man on the bus which at the time defied the southern custom and resulted in her arrest. The response was a boycott that lasts for a year until the busses got un segregated.

    During this year and the months jan-feb Dr. King and other figures come together to from the southern christian leadership council where Dr. King is appointed as president. This group became a major part of the civil rights movement and was known for the non violent protests.

    Rodney King, a taxi cab driver, was pulled over by police for speeding. He did not comply due to being under the influence, which he was then shot twice with a taser and beaten for 81 seconds with police batons. The three officers involved were charged with assualt and excessive froce.
