The Council of Chalcedon
The Council of Chalcedon was the fourth most important Catholic Council of the Christian Church. The Council was called together by Emperor Marcian, as well as 520 bishops. This Council approved the Creed of Nicaea which is known today as the Nicene Creed. The council also issued problems with local churches, monks and churchmen. The general effect was to give the church a more stable and acceptable character. -

East - West Schism
The East - West Schism was an event that triggered the final separation between the Eastern Christian Churches which was led by father Michael Cerularius and the Western Christian Churches which was led by Pope Leo IX. The Eastern Church were the Orthodox Churches and the Western Churches were the Christian Churches. -

Martin Luther's publication of the 95 Theses was debate that concerned the selling of indulgences. Martin Luther disagreed with the purchasing of indulgences. Luther began to write a list of prepositions called the 95 Theses. Luther nailed the list on the outside door of Wittenberg. -

The Council of Trent was one of the most important council in the Roman Catholic Churches. This council was held in three parts and was assigned by Paul III. The goals of the council was to define the creed, correct morals, restore peace among christians and ward off the non believers. -

The Peace of Augsburg was the first permanent legal basis. The Peace was a settlement between Charles V and the Lutheran Princes. The Peace of Augsburg allowed the state princes to select the Lutheranism or Catholicism as the religion. -

The First Vatican Council was the twentieth catholic council of the Roman catholic church. The council was called by Pope Pius IX. The council dealt with current problems, referring to the rising impact of rationalism, liberalism and materialism. -
The Second Vatican Council 1962 - 1965
The Second Vatican Council was the twenty-first catholic council of the Roman Catholic Church. This council was announced by Pope John XXIII. The council called 2000 - 2500 bishops and thousands of observers, sisters ,auditors, laymen and laywomen. The council was called to deal with cultural changes after WWII which lead out to a need to reconsider Church practices.
