    Eastern Orthodox Church

    Michael Cerularius founded the Eastern Orthodox church. This denomination split from the Roman Catholic Church as there were conflicts between the higher powers of each faction
  • 1500

    Presbyterian

    Calvin of Switzerland is credited as founding the Presbyterian faith in the Protestant Reformation. The Presbyterians broke off from the Church of England in 1811. They split as of differing opinions regarding slavery, politics and their stance of the American civil war.
  • 1534

    Church of England/Anglican

    King Henry VIII founded the church of England. The Church of England split of from the Roman Catholic church as King Henry the 8th wanted to divorce his wife and the Roman catholic Church wouldn't allow that.
  • Baptist

    Roger Williams is told to have founded the Baptist denomination. Baptists separated from the Roman Catholic church believing that attending church should be voluntary and only true believers should be baptized.
  • Lutheran Church

    C. F. W. Walther is the founder of the Lutheran Church. The Lutherans split from the Roman Catholic Church arguing that the bible, while holy, had errors and mistakes in its writing and messages.
  • Methodist

    John Wesley is credited as the founder of the Methodist denomination. The Methodists left the Church of England over disputes on their stances of slavery and how much power bishops had.
  • Uniting church

    The Uniting Church was a merge of three churches formed by the Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational Union churches of Australia. These churches didn't split from anyone more merged to focus their power to do good in the community.
  • Hillsong Church

    Brian Houston is the founder of the Hillsong Church. It split from Pentecostal Christianity not for conflict but to focus more on its own goals of giving to the people in need and helping their community.
