    • They split because of multiple disagreements in doctrine from Catholics.

    • The founder was Martin Luther.
    • The Church split from the Catholic Church.
    • The split happened due to indulgences being sold and the tyranny of the church.

    Presbyterian

    • Founded in the 16th century during the Protestant Reformation.
    • Founded on the teachings of John Calvin and John Knox.
    • Broke off from the Roman Catholic Church.
    • It was formed from Calvin and Knox’s teachings and the belief that the sale of indulgences and other church practices was wrong.

    Church of England/Anglican

    • Founded in 1534, England, United Kingdom.
    • The founder was Henry VIII.
    • The Church split from the Catholic Church.
    • The Church split because Henry VIII wanted to divorce his wife so he could have a male heir.
  • Baptist

    • Founded in 1609-1612 in Holland.
    • Many different people are attributed to be the founders.
    • Baptists split from the Lutheran Church in Sweden.
    • They have a heavier meaning associated with baptism than other Christian/Catholic denominations.
  • Methodist

    • Founded in the 18th century.
    • Founded by John Wesley.
    • Split from the Anglican Church.
    • The Church was formed to reform the Anglican church from within.
  • Uniting church

    • Formed in 1977.
    • Founded by the amalgamation of the Congregationalist, Methodist and Presbyterian churches in Australia.
    • It is more of an ecumenical-based church and their aim is to be compassionate and provide for their local communities.
  • Hillsong Church

    • Founded in 1983 in Australia.
    • Was founded by Brian and Bobbie Houston.
    • It was formed for a ‘Bible based’ and ‘Christ-centred’ church.
