    Shang Dynasty

    (1500-1040)Under the Shang, work with bronze became a common practice. They ruled over a long period of time thanks to the advancements in the bronze working field. Their military was also streghtened with the use of bronze as a type of weapon and way to defend themselves.

    End of the Han Dynasty

    The Han Dynassty finallt falls in 220 CE and this leaves a kind of uncertainty within the people without a stable government. It was easier to overthrow becasue they were not centralized, but rather divided into different sections.

    Qin unifies China

    The Qin dyansty, China's first imperal dynasty, wants centralized rule.This leads to an improved military and stable economy that sets the foundation for this dynasty that ruled from 221-206 BC

    The Constuction of Great Wall

    The constuction of the Great Wall of China started under the first emperor of China an was used as a defense mechanism. The building did not stop there, the Ming Dynasty added to the wall at around 1368 to secure themselves

    Yuan Dynasty

    The grandson of Genghis Khan, Kublai, establishes the Yuan Dynasty. The Dynasty had a new theme since it was headed by the successor to the Mongol throne and was not originally from the land that they were now controlling

    Ming Dynasty

    The Ming Dynasty arose in the chaos that followed the collapse of the Yuan Dynasty. Revolts allowed the descendants of the Han Dynasty to, once again, take control of China.

    Beginning of Zheng he's voyages

    The Ming emperor sent Zheng off to explore the world. Their goal of exploring was to show and brag about how great the Ming empire was.

    End of Zheng He's voyages

    The Ming empire was beginning to decline which cause the Ming emperor to stop expeditions. What the emperor did was used money for expeditions on military, and it made Zheng with his fleet return to China.

    Qing Dynasty

    The Qing dynasty is known to be the last dynasty in Imperial China. It flourished for many years, but the innovations of Europeans were too much for the Empire. Collapsing in the early 20th century, due to many revolts, a weakening government, and WWI

    The Qing dynasty began to rule following the mandate of Heaven. They otlawed manchurian language during this time. And they also required Chinese men to shave their heads to show submission.

    Jesuits in trade

    The Jesuits began to inspire greater trade in Europe. They traded things such as porceilin and tea which caught the eye of Europeans. This is what created the limited trade in Canton.
  • Christianity banned

    China began to ban any Christian missionaries. They did not want new religions introduced to their people and wanted to retain the established religions.

    The Chinese wanted to have a small contact within trade. However, they were very on the fence to trade. So, they created a small port in Canton.

    The British introduce their opium that was from India into China. Opium was an early version of heroin that people became addicted to. That was the British's plan to weaken China and rule.

    When Britain and China engaged in war over Britain's right to export the highly addictive drug, Opium. China ended up losing the wars and therefore Britain had the right to export the drug. Their victory can be credited to their advanced technology due to Britain's industrialization.

    The British and the Chinese fought on whether or not to trade opium. China wanted to avoid it, but Britian wanted to keep selling . This resulted in war leading to the British winning.

    The Taiping rebellion was a event of rebellions by Buudhists who were tired of corruption. A man recruited many to bring down the Manch government but failed. This was one of the cause of Chinese downfall.

    Britsh wanted to expand in which to trade in China; Howver, the China did not want to give any more land. warresulted, leading to the loss of China. This Caused China to become an open port to all.

    Tang dynasty

    Under the Tang, China Prospered and was going through a Chinese Golden Age. The arts also flourished under the Tang with poetry becoming increasingly popular.

    Song Dynasty

    This dynasty was split into two, The Northern Song and the Southern Song. They were known to have used the earliest form of the magnetic compass, which they used to navigate through uncharted land.
