Arnold was a schoolmate of Booth's and confessed that he knew about the old plot but not the assassination. Micheal O'Laughlen was a friend of Booth's and he was also particapated in the kidnapping plot. Edman Spangler was the stagehand from Ford's theater and got arrest for holding the reins of Booth's horse. -

From a stale tip a cavalry officer decided to follow up on a mysterious strangers who stopped by Dr.Mudd's farm. "The lieuten decided Mudd was guilty of something and he would arrest him sooner or later". -

After they got kicked out of Dr. Stuart's house they went to a neighbor of Stuart's Lucas he was a man of color. He agreed to help them with transportation by renting a team of horses and a wagon and his son would be the driver. Booth had to threaten Lucas with violence for them to be able to stay the night. -
Asked a fisherman to give them a ride across the Rappahannock River to Port Royal
Booth and Herold reached Port Conway they stopped at a fisherman's house William Rollins. They would ask him to take them across the Rappahannock River to Port Royal. While they were waiting to go on the boat there stood three tall figures on top of a hill. "The jackets the soldiers wore were not the blue of the union soldiers they were confederate soldiers. Herold told the soldiers " we are assassinators of the president!" -
Reaching Port Conway Willie Jett, Ruggles, Bainbridge, and the fugitives went to Locust Hill
Booth, Willie Jett, Ruggles, Bainbridge, and Herold rode to Locust Hill and said that Booth was a wounded Confederate soldier. "Here is a wounded Confederate solider that we want you to take care of for a day or so will you do it". The Garrett's decided to help this confederate soldier because his son came back from the war so he was repaying the favor. -
Booth dies at the Garrett's farm
While Booth and Herold stayed another night at the Garrett's farm they said that they couldn't stay in the house so they stayed in their barn. John thought that they were scheming to steal their horses in the night so they locked the fugtives in their barn. The sound of hooves and metal reached them. Booth got shot by Corbeet in the burning barn.
