Charlves V shared the title of King with his mother, Joanna. This was the doing of Maximilian I and the Pope Leo X. His grandfather, the king of Aragon Ferdinand II on 23 January 1516 died so Joanna inherited the Crown of Aragon, which was Aragon, Catalonia, Valencia, Naples, Sicily and Sardinia meanwhile while Charles became Governor General. After the celebrations Charles V was crowned king together with his mom.
