  • Italian prosecutors formally charge Knox

    Italian prosecutors formally charge Knox, Guede and Sollecito with the muder of Meredith Kercher.
  • Pre-trial begins

    Pretrial proceedings for Amanda and Raffaele began and continued for five weeks, where probable cause was established and eventually folded into Guede’s abbreviated trial.
  • Guede is Found Guilty & Knox and Sollecito's Indictment

    Judge Micheli found Guede guilty and sentenced him to thirty years (later reduced to sixteen) in prison, then announcing that he found sufficient evidence of guilt for Amanda and Raffaele indicting them to be tried for murder.

    Prosecutor Giuliano Mignini argued that the murder was a result of an unstoppable game of sex and violence between Amanda, Raffaele, Rudy Guede, and Meredith, and co-prosecutor Manuela Comodi asked for life imprisonment.

    The jury finds Knox and Sollecito guilty on all counts in the stabbing death of Kercher. Knox gets a 26-year sentence; Sollecito gets 25 years.
