    The proclamation of 1763 was signed by King George lll. After the French and Indian war the British government wanted to avoid problems between the French and Native Americans. They marked a line in the Appalachian mountains to prohibit any expansion of the land.

    This act increased duties on imported sugar and other items. This allowed for more foods to be taxed. They wanted to stop the smuggling of sugar and molasses in the colonies.

    The stamp act was past by parliament imposing the first direct tax on the American colonies. The purpose was to offset the high costs of the British military organization in America. Under the stamp act all printed materials were taxed.

    The Quartering Acts of the British parliament required the local government colonies to provide housing, food, and other items for the soldiers. This act was passed after the French and Indian war to protect colonists from more disputes between the French and Indians. It also helped with the expenses of bringing troops back to England.

    The Boston massacre was a street fight between the colonists and the British soldiers. This occurred on King street in Boston during a confrontation. There was a lot of tension and five colonists were shot and killed.

    The Boston tea party was a protest by the American colonists. The colonists were mad at Britain for imposing taxes. So the Colonists took the matter in their own hands and they disguised themselves and dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor.

    The Boston port act was the discipline following the Boston tea party. The British parliament passes the act closing the port of Boston. This made it so the citizens of Boston had to pay a large fine following the tea that was thrown in the river.

    The Massachusetts government act was used to punish Boston and Massachusetts for resisting the British policies. The Massachusetts government also followed the Boston tea party by punishing them for destruction of land. This act allowed for the royalty in the colony to have more power and governing freedom.

    The Administration of Justice Act was created to protect the royally appointed officials of Massachusetts. This law gave the ability for the governor to send criminal royal officials to Great Britain. They used this law when it became clear that the royal defendant could not get a fair trial in Massachusetts province.

    The Quebec Act was passed to give French Canadians more freedom. This act gave Roman Catholics more rights and gave more power to the church. It also allowed for the French Canadians to be free of loyalty oaths and have better jobs.
