  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian war was a war that lasted seven years between the fFench, Native American, and the British. After the British won the war they went bankrupt because they had to pay for the war. To gain more money, the British began to tax the colonists angering them.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The Surgar Act was a law that put tax on sugar, molasses and other goods. Colonists were angry because of these taxes so they began to boycott to Sugar Act causing Britian to loose money.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act taxed newspapers, licenses, colonial paper products and other legal documents. Colonists were once again furious with these tax laws so a secrect society "The Sons Of Liberty" frightened tax collectros. In 1766 Parliment repealed the Stamp Act.
  • The Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act
    The Townshend Act taxed glass, lead paints, paper, tea and other goods. As a reult the "Daughters Of Liberty" were created and they helped support boycotts against these laws.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    During the Boston Tea Party parliment reapealed most taxes but kept taxes on tea. Many colonial merchants were losing business because of the tax on tea, so they through the tea over board into the harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were passed to punish the colonist for dumping the tea in the harbor. These acts closed Boston Ports and the Massachusetts charter was cancelled. The only way to re-open the Boston Harbor, colonists had to pay for the tea that they dumped.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    The First Continental Congress was created to seek independence from Britian. This Continental Congress drafted the Declaration of Rights and told the militia to get ready for war. If the king refused to meet their demands they would meet in 1775 again.
