The Sugar Act
Britain taxed the colonists sugar and molasses which also resulted the slogan "no taxation without representation" which meant Parliament shouldn't be able to tax us without our permission.The effect of this act was that colonists hope that their efforts of the boycotts would hurt the British economy. -
The Stamp Act
Britain started taxing legal documents,licenses,newspapers,pamphlets,and playing cards so in other words anything that is paper.The effect that resulted was a secret society was formed called The Sons of Liberty and would frighten tax collectors and London Merchants pressured Parliament to revoke the act. -
The Townshend Acts
The taxes of the Townshend Acts was glass,lead,paint,paper,and tea which this law was designed to be able to raise money.The cause of this act was that smuggling and attacks on tax collectors which in effect the British troops were sent to restore order in Boston. -
The Boston Massacre
The British troops were in Boston to reinstate order after the events of The Townshend Acts that caused attacks on tax collectors.An effect that was everlasting was the colonists were outraged at the British. -
Boston Tea Party
Parliament reinstate most of the taxes but kept the tax only on tea but Parliament agreed to allow the East India to sell tea because they made money by charging low prices and reduced illegal smuggling.Colonial Merchants were against the Tea Act since they were afraid they would be put out of business.Sons of Liberty demanded that the tea ships would leave Boston Harbor but in effect of that result the tea on the ships was thrown in the harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
The event that led directly to the Intolerable Acts was The Boston Tea Party and there was six effects that resulted three of the effects were Boston Harbor was closed.Massachusetts colonial charter was cancelled as well as the trials of corrupt royal officials that would be held in Britian.The only way Boston Harbor would reopen was that the colonists have to pay for the ruined tea. -
First Continental Congress
The First Continental Congress took place in Philadelphia the cause of the Congress was to state the colonist's concerns and ask the king to fix the problems.Which resulted to encourage colonists to carry on boycotts and sent the Declaration of Rights to King George the third.
