  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris was signed in 1763 and it ended the French and Indian War. The French lost all of its colonies in North. Spain recieved all French lands west of the Mississippi River, and New Orleans. England recieved all French land in Canada, the Great Lakes country, the Ohio River Valley and Florida.
  • Sugar Act

    In 1764, the British placed a tax on the colonies for sugar. They did this simply because they didn't have enough money to pay on the debts of the war. They also hoped to force the colonists to sell their good to England opposed to other countries. The colonists began to boycott the British because they thought British might lower the cost. Which as a result the colonists became more united.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act was passed on March 22, 1765. It required colonists to pay a tax on almost all printed materials. The Stamp Act was passed to help pay for soldiers in North America after the Seven Years' War.

    The Declaratory Act was the declaration by Parliament that repealed the Stamp Act. The Act stated that British Parliament's taxing authority was the same as Great Britain and America,

    Charles Townshend published the Townshend Acts.The Acts were made to take revenue from the colonists in America by making customs duties on imports such as glass, paints, lead, tea, and paper.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was the combination of tensions in the American colonies that had been growing. As a result of a mob of people throwing stuff and giving insults to soldiers outside a Customs Office in Massachusettes, the soldiers fired into the crowd. Five poeple were found dead after this tragic day. The people killed were, Cripus Attucks, Samuel Gray, James Caldwell, Patrick Carr, and Samuel Maverick.
  • Tea Act

    The Tea Act was to allow a drawback of the duties of customs on the exporting of tea to any of the colonies in America. It was to increase the deposit on tea to be sold to the colonies. Parliament passed this act in 1773. The colonists viewed this act also as taxation without representation.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party of December 16, 1773, took place when a group of Massachusetts Patriots, raided three british ships filled with tea. They then took all the tea on the ships and dumped it into the Boston Harbor. They did this to make an effort to rescue the financially weakened East India Company. It took nearly three hours for more than 100 colonists to empty the tea out of the ships. To Parliament, the Boston Tea Party confirmed Massachusetts's role as the primary resistance of taxation.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    There are 5 Intolerable Acts which are passed at different dates. They were all published in 1774. Parliament passes these laws to punish Boston for the Tea Party. The harbor closed, publics meetings are made illegal, and military rule was imposed in the colony until the tea was paid.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    Tensions had been building for many years between residents of the 13 American colonies and the British authorities. On the night of April 18, 1775, hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to nearby Concord in order to seize a hidden store of weapons. Joseph Warren sent out Paul Revere and William Dawes to warn the citizens of the news. The British searched Concord for nearly 4 hours and prepared to head back to Boston. By this time, almost 2,000 minutemen started battling.
