Proclamation of 1763
The proclamation of 1763 created a boundary so no English settlements went past the Appalachian Mountains. This was done to prevent future wars with the Natives and the English. The English and the Natives both wanted land to create colonies. If both the colonies acquired land they would start a war. -
Sugar Act of 1764
The Sugar Act of 1764 was passed to pay for war debt from the French and Indian War. It also helped pay for the colonies and new land. The Sugar Act was controversial some people wanted to help pay and some people didn't. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was passed to pay for the British troops in the colonies. The Stamp Act was important for a bunch of reasons. Most printed materials such as newspapers, bills, and pamphlets etc. -
Quartering Act
The Quartering Act was a law that was passed to allow royal troops to stay in houses or empty buildings if barracks weren't available. The Quartering Act was passed by British parliament in 1765. It helped out a lot during this time. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre is a very historical event. It started when a group of protesters were easing the British troops to shoot them. A man then threw something at a British troop and he shot into the crowd killing a man. Five total people died. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party is one of the most important events in US history. On the night of December 16, 1773 a group of men called the Sons of Liberty dumped such as 45 tons into the Boston Harbor. In response to this a bunch of new laws were made/passed. -
Boston Port Act
The Boston Port Act was passed until the price of the dumped tea was recovered. The act also moved the capital of Massachusetts to Salem. The act also made marble head the official part of entry for the colony. -
The Massachusetts Government Act
This act banned all meetings that weren't approved by the royal governor. There was a lot of controversy about this act but it also helped out a lot. This act also made all law officers subject to appointment by the royal governor. -
Administration of Justice Act
This act made sure that judges would judge a case properly and not be biased. If a judge was found being bias for a certain person they were removed from their job. This act also allowed the royal government of a colony to move trials to other colonies or even England. -
The Quebec Act
The Quebec Act granted civil government and religious freedom to Catholics living in the colony. The Quebec Act divided North American territory. The act was also an attempt to deal with major questions.
