  • End of the French and Indian War

    End of the French and Indian War
    The French and Indian war also known as the Seven Years. This war fought by the British against the French and their allies the Indians. The French expanding into the Ohio River Valley realy caused problems with the British. A seris of treatys did not solve the problem. It was not until the Treaty of Paris 1763 the war was over. The British successfully driven the French out of North America.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    In 1764 the Sugar Act put a three-cent tax on foreign refined sugar and increased taxes on coffee, indigo, and wine. It banned importation of rum and French wines. Like the rest of the taxes, the taxes were enacted without the consent of the colonists. This was one of the first instances in which colonists wanted a say in how much they were taxed.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was passed by the British parliment March 22, 1765. Stamp act was tax on pronted items such as legal documents, newspapers, books, contracts, and land deeds. Colonist were very angry with this tax, and claimed that it threatened their prosperity and liberty. Colonial leaders threatened parliments right to tax and stated, "No taxation without representation".
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act refers to provisions passed by the British Parliament. Under these act, local colonists were forced to food and housing to British soldiers stationed in the American colonies. Under the act, if more British troops required housing than was available in barracks and public houses, the troops could be housed in a variety of additional locations such as inns, ale houses, private homes of those selling wine or alcohol and livery stables.
  • Declaratory Act

    The Decalratory acts of 1776 was a decalration passed by British Parliament. this declaration accompanied the repeal of the Stamp Act. The colonists were relieved that the Stamp Act was repealed. Unfortunately this law allowed Parliament's taxing authority to be passed down into the Americas. this law anger the colonists even more because their say ; "No taxation without representation" was not an excuse anymore
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Acts of 1767 was a series of passed acts. These acts where named after Charles Townshend, the Chancellor of Exchequer. this act put custom duties on imports of glass, leads, paint, paper, and tea. Colonists began to boycott goods. the boycott decreased British trade and soon enough, most acts were repealed. the retention of tax on tea led to the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was the killing of five colonists by the British soliders. It was caused by the growing tensions of the Army sent to the colonies to enforce the Townshed Acts. The Patriot mob started to throw snowballs and ice at the soliders. About 50 citizens attacked a British sentinel. Captin Preston called in for additional soliders and these too were attacked. The citizens riot caused the soliders to fire.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    1773 Act that gave a monopoly on tea sales to the East India Company. American colonists could not buy tea unless it came from that company.The East Indian Company wasn't doing so well, and the British wanted to give it some more business. The Tea Act lowered the price on this East India tea so much that it was way below tea from other suppliers. But the American colonists saw this law as yet another means of "taxation without representation".
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    A group of Masachusetts colonists disguised themselves as Mohawk Indians, boarded three British tea ships and dumped 342 crates of tea into a Boston harbor. This midnight raid was in protest of British Parliment's Tea Act of 1773. Samuel Adams with about 60 members of The Sons of Liberty dumped about $18,000 of tea into the harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts of 1774 was the result of the Boston Tea Party. This act was a punish,ent to the Massachusetts colonist for dumping all of the tea into the harbor. As a result of the Intolerable acts, the Boston Port act was passed. A discontinue in trade in the Boston colony. The quebec act was also passed as well as the Massachusetts Government Act. Someone was going to pay for all the money lost!
  • Battles of Lexington & Concord

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord for April 19, 1775. The night before April 19, British troops marched to nearby Concord to seize arms. Paul Revere and minutemen sounded the alarm and the war kicked off. By the following summer, a full scale war of independence had broken out. North America was on the verge of their independence.
