Stamp Act
This act was passed by the British Parliament. This act made it necessary for all American Colonists to pay a tax on all the paper they were printing including, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications and even playing cards. They were very displeased about this new rule and reacted by boycotting and protesting. -
Townshend Acts
In an effort by the British government to develop fiscal and political power over the colonies, by forcing taxes on many British products. -
Boston Massacre
A mob of angry American colonists come together at the Customs House in Boston and begin to torment the British soldiers guarding the building. -
Tea Act
British government granted the company ownership on the sale of tea. This resulted into the Boston Tea Party protesting. -
Boston Tea Party
This was a protest by the Sons of Liberty, many people even disguised themselves as American Indians. They ruined their tea by throwing the crates of tea into the harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
King George III became even stricter with his rule over Massachusetts by shutting down the Boston Harbor and dismembering troops. This led to a colonial declaration of rights. -
Lexington and Conrad
This was the first battle of the America Revolution. Several battles occured after and in 1783 the colonists won their independence. -
Publishing of "Common Sense"
Thomas Paine publishes his pamphlet "Common Sense" in which he states his arguements in favor of American Independence.
