French and Indian War

Strong laws in responce to the Boston Tea Party. Shut down Boston Harbor, allowed soldiers to reside in private property, and placed Boston under martial law. -
1st contental Congress
56 delegates from the states met in Philidelphia and wrote a decleration of colonial rights. -
Lexington and Concord
The first fight of the revolution, minutemen fired on British troops and forced them back to Boston under seige. -
2nd Contentental Congress
Delegates met a second time to debate independance and declare George Washington as the leader of the Continental Army. -

Thomas Paine published this pamphlet against King George and the monarchy. It spurred many to join the revolution,
