  • After The French And Indian War

    After The French And Indian War
    After the French and Indian war, England was majorly in debt. They turned to the colonies for help, but the colonies told them that they no longer needed England's protection. When England heard about this, they weren't too happy because they wanted to have full control over the Thirteen Colonies.
  • Proclamation Of 1763

    After the Seven Years War, Great Britain was in debt. King George III did not want anymore fights with the Native Americans, so he declared the Proclamation of 1763. This Proclamation said that the Appalachian Mountains were the temporary western boundary for all colonies. Governors of the Thirteen Colonies were not allowed to give land to settlers that was west of the Appalachian Mountains. The only to do so,was to have the king's permission.
  • The Currency Act

    The colonists started making colonial scrips, which was their own paper money. The British noticed this and realized that since now the colonists had made their own money, the American economy was slowly getting out of the control of Britain. The British didn't want the colonists to become independent, so the British made colonial scrips illegal, and the colonists had to use British money. With British money, anything the colonists bought was twice the amount they had to pay with colonial scrip.

    The Sugar Act
    This act was designed by the British to raise income from the Thirteen American Colonies. This act put a tax on sugar and molasses that was being imported to the thirteen colonies which impacted the highly lucrative product of rum. Because the taxes on sugar and molasses were so high, the colonists had to import sugar and molasses secretively so that they wouldn't have to pay taxes. This act is important because it made the colonists hate and rebel against England.
  • The Stamp Act

    The stamp act put taxes on licenses, collage diplomas, playing cards, advertisements, newspapers, and legal documents. The stamp act got its name the stamps that were put on the documents that had taxes to show that their tax was paid. The colonist were mad. The disapproval of the stamp act swarmed into Great Britain.Patrick Henry later gave a powerful speech ad after that, the Stamp Act became unfair and illegal. Parliamet had no longer the right to tax the people in Virginia.
  • The Quartering Act

    On March 24, 1765, Parliament passes the Quartering Act. This act made every on of the thirteen colonies to provide barracks which were used for the housing of British soldiers and other supplies for the British soldiers. If the barracks were too small to keep all the soldiers, the soldiers would be housed in local inns, livery stables, ale houses, victualing houses, and other places. If some soldiers were still without houses, the colonies had to house the soldier in barns or outhouses.
  • Patrick Henry' Protest

    Patrick Henry was elected to be a member of the Virginia House of Burgesses , in May of 1765. Patrick disagreed with the unfair laws and taxes that The British had passed on. He knew that the colonist were unhappy as well, so he led the protest against the laws and taxes that The British passed on to the colonist.
  • Declaratory Act

    The Declaratory Act gave parliament the power to make laws and taxes for all of The Thirteen Colonies. The Colonist weren't all so mad about this. Some of the colonist were fine with it, but others didn't like it at all. This act followed the repeal of The Stamp Act. This act basically gave all power to the Parliament of Great Britain. Parliament had the right to tax and make decisions for the colonists in all cases.
  • The Townshend Acts

    Unlike the Stamp Act, The Sugar Act, Th Declaratory Act, and the Quartering Act, the Townshend Acts, were a series of acts. The Townshend Acts placed taxes on imports that entered the colonies, or supplies that entered the Thirteen Colonies. These materials or supplies included glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea.
  • Boston Tea Party

    On December 16th, 1773, the Sons Of Liberty an Samuel Adams, boarded some ship with 342 chest of tea. They threw the 342 chest of tea in the Boston Harbor. This was a way for them to protest for taxes on tea.
