    It was born as a result of the Third International Conference on Health Promotion. The Declaration looks at the importance of sustainable development and advocates for social action at the community level.
    The Declaration requires the establishment of enabling environments, through:
    • Strengthening of the project.
    • Allow communities to take control of their health and environment.
    • The establishment of alliances for health

    The Fourth International Conference on Health Promotion resulted in the Jakarta Declaration (1997).
