    The invention of the cotton gin

    2. A machine invented that sped the production of cotton by removing seeds from cotton fiber.

    5. Important because it sped up the process of separating the seed from cotton.
    6. This was a compromise,because it made America BOOM and seem more advanceed. It also made the cotton industry more effective and easier to do.

    5. If Jefferson cut off all exports to foreigns, he hoped they would give in or agree to Americans rights
    6. Conflict, other countries were dependent on USA goods and raw materials, therefore they would do anything, including fighting and threats to try and gain the American exports

    5. Important, because it showed progression and a light at the end of the tunnel. Each compromise made was another step made, however this also showed how slavery still was common.

    5. Important because showed how conflicting ideas and sides were on slavery and anti-slavery.
    6. Conflict, because this wounded people up and made more conflicts and arguments in society.

    2. Scott sued for freedom after owner died. He thought that because his owner took him North into free territory for 4 years, that he was free'd.

    5. This was important, because 11 states seceeded from the Union, while 4 slave states stayed with the Union.
    6. This showed conflict, because it kicked off and began tensions of the Civil War.

    2. SC would leave if Lincoln won election because they thought this victory wouldnt allow them to have a voice in government

    5. SC was the first to leave which persuaded other states to do it too. Conflict, it divided the United States again and made Americans less unified under one strong rule.
